Our purpose at Hot Cup Factory is to "Build People and Deliver Joy." That's been our purpose since we were founded in 2011. Our founder and CEO, Tim Porter, has been working to build people and deliver joy much longer than Hot Cup Factory has been around.
It Started with Gelato
Gelato Freeze, What Does it Mean to Build People and Delivery Joy?
In 2008, Tim started a gelato shop called Gelato Freeze. His goal was to employ high school students and give them the opportunity to save money for college or anything else they needed. Gelato Freeze's menu and pricing were made to be the easiest for the customers. The menu had three different sizes: A, B, and C. The pricing was just as simple. Everything was in round numbers with tax included.
As we all know, 2008 led to a massive recession in the US. Where there were once lines out the door, it was now empty. People didn't have money to spend on gelato anymore. Tim had to close the doors. Rather than seeing this as the end of the road, he kept going.
The Restaurant Supply Industry had a Problem

While in the industry, Tim saw a big problem: getting supplies was a pain. He had to order all the supplies over the phone and wait until the supplier happened to be in the area. Alongside that, there wasn't a reputable, honest, and easy-to-work-with company or person selling the supplies he needed. That's when he got the idea for Hot Cup Factory.

The purpose of Gelato Freeze was to give high school students jobs and build them as people. That same purpose has inspired Hot Cup Factory: we're a company made up of people being built. Each employee has goals, personal and professional, and the people of Hot Cup Factory strive to help each employee reach those goals.
The second part of Gelato Freeze's purpose was to make everything simple. That's another goal of Hot Cup Factory. That's why we offer free shipping! When you shop with us, you don't have to worry about complicated pricing or a hard-to-navigate website.
